The most convenient and affordable way into Bristol is by bus.
Shuttle Bus
The Bristol Airport Flyer will take you to Bristol Bus Station in around 30 minutes, via Bristol Temple Meads railway station (25 minutes). It runs 24 hours a day, as often as every eight minutes at peak times.
Cost: GBP 7 one-way, GBP 11 return Buying tickets: On the bus or online Location: Outside the terminal, Arrivals level
For Cardiff and South Wales, you can take the National Express coach service that runs 12 times a day.
Cost: From GBP 10 (online) Buying tickets: Online or on the coach (cash or card)
Taxi
You'll find taxis, run by Arrow Cars, directly outside the terminal building. To pre-book a fixed fare, visit the booking office inside the airport (cash or card) or go online. Travel time to the city centre is 25-30 minutes.
Cost: GBP 20-30 Location: Outside the terminal, Arrivals level
Bristol Airport lies 13km south-west of the city centre, and is used principally by EasyJet, Ryanair, Thomson Airways and BMI Regional to fly to holiday destinations within Europe. The airport has one terminal building, with three levels and most facilities airside:
Ground floor: Check-in, Arrivals (domestic on the right as you enter the terminal, international in the centre), immigration, passport control and several cafés
First floor: Security checkpoint, gates, shopping area with shops including and cafés
Mezzanine: Airside area with more eating options and roof terrace
Allow plenty of time: Although this is a small airport, there have been reports that it is overstretched, with long walks to gates and long queues at security and Arrivals.
Great for the kids, Bristol zoo hosts over 400 species on a 12-acre plot of land. Popular attractions include Gorilla Island, Twilight World, Butterfly Forest and, of course, the big cats. A taxi ride from Bristol airport to the zoo takes 20 - 25 minutes.
There are showers available in Bristol airport. Just ask at the landside information point in the terminal building. The fee for the showers is GBP 10.
