Getting around the airport

One main passenger terminal

Kempegowda International Airport is located 40 kilometres from the central business district of Bangalore. The airport has one passenger terminal (Terminal 1).

  • Terminal 1 has four levels and is fully air conditioned. The basement level has rest areas and storage; the ground level is Arrivals and Check-in; Level 1 is Departures with domestic security and departures to the left and international departures to the right along with gate areas; Level 2 are departure lounges and retail.
  •  The information counter in the arrivals hall is open 24 hours daily and can answer all passenger inquiries.
  • Airport visitors are charged INR 100 (USD 1.50) for entry. The ticket is valid for two hours from the time of purchase. They can be purchased at the curb side near the Arrival Hall.

Future Plans

Kempegowda International Airport is currently building a new terminal (Terminal 2) in two phases: in the first phase, the terminal will cater to 15 million passengers annually by 2022 and in the second phase it will cater to 55 million passengers once completed.

Getting into Bangalore

Bus or taxi

Bus

Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) operates buses every 15-30 minutes from various points of the city to the airport. The journey time to destination is approximately two hours.

Location: Terminal 1, before security, ground level, curbside
Cost: INR 50-250 depending on the distance

Taxi

Air-conditioned sedans can be hailed from the taxi boarding point in front of the terminal building. The taxis are metered and charge a 10% surcharge from midnight to 06:00. A trip from the airport to the central business district will cost around INR 800-900 (USD 10-11.50). Uber service is also available at this airport. There is also an airport toll of INR 120 (USD 1.80) paid by the passenger.

Cost: INR 80 for the first four kilometres and then INR 19.50 every subsequent kilometre

Day Hotel

Domestic departures day rooms

This hotel has 20 rooms with single, double, twin, and family rooms available. They are equipped with internet, desks, a bed and shower with bathroom amenities. Additional services include massage parlour and freshly prepared food. Rates are INR 2500 (USD 37) for 3 hours or INR 3500 (USD 52) for 6 hours in a single rooms.

Rate is INR 1400 for trip from airport to CV raman Nagar in Budget cars like Dzire, Fusion Ikon and Accent. Rate is INR 2100 for trip from airport to CV raman Nagar in Standard cars like City, Fiesta SX4 and Verna. For Mercedes E-series, rate is INR 5400.
