Getting into Port Louis

Take the Bus

To get to Port Louis from the airport you can drive or hire a taxi. Bus service is also available. It’s slower but far less expensive.

Bus

Bus 198 operates daily every 15 minutes between Port Louis Victoria Square Bus Station and Mahebourg Bus Station via the airport. The journey takes about 90 minutes. Fares can vary according to the distance of your final destination from the airport. Also, consider that buses with the air-conditioning system have an extra fee. You can purchase your ticket on board.

Taxi

By taxi, you can transfer from the airport to Port Louis within 50 minutes, since the capital of Mauritius is located 48 kilometres away from the airport. The official taxi companies which are available in the airport are Mauritius Airport Taxi, Taxi Service Mauritius and Taksi Mauritius.

Getting around the airport

One terminal, two levels

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Mauritius Airport is the main international gateway to Mauritius island. The Airport is located at Plaine Magnien, at 48 kilometres southeast of Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius. Mauritius Airport hosts international flights to many destinations worldwide in Europe, Asia and Africa. It is the main hub for the national carrier Air Mauritius. It has a single passenger terminal distributed in a Ravenala plant tree shape and counts with an eco-friendly design.

First level: International Departures. Find in this level both the Check-in Hall A and the Check-in Hall B. The joining section between the check-in area and the boarding area hosts the Passport Control, the Security Control and the Duty-free shops.

Second level:
Domestic Departures and Arrivals. Find here the baggage reclaim hall and customs.
