Train
The clean, comfortable City Airport Train (CAT) from Vienna Airport takes you to Bahnhof Wien Mitte (Vienna's Central Station) non-stop in just 16 minutes. You'll find a shiny new shopping mall at the station, and you can change to the Landstraße station for the local U-Bahn underground system.
Cost: EUR 12 one-way/EUR 21 return from a ticket machine or even cheaper with FLIO
Operating hours: The train leaves every 30 minutes from 06:09 to 23:39
Location: Train station under the main terminal building. Follow the green CAT signs at the airport, but don’t board the S7 train by accident, it can be easy to end up on the wrong platform!
Tip: Children under 15 years old travel for free. And, free Wifi is available on the board.
A cheaper and yet still convenient option is to take the local S-Bahn S7 train to Wien-Mitte station in 25 minutes. Trains leave at 18 and 49 minutes past the hour.
Cost: EUR 4.10 (including travel on entire Vienna public transport network)
Location: Train station under the main terminal building
Bus
Vienna Airport Lines, operated by Postbus, connect the airport with the main transport hubs. Tickets can be bought on board. Buses to the city centre (Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz) run 24 hours a day, journey time just 20 minutes.
Cost: EUR 8 one-way
Location: Outside Arrivals area
Taxi
Taxi fares can vary greatly, depending on traffic and your final destination. The road out of the airport, the A22 (Sud-Ost Tangente), is Austria’s busiest road, and traffic is notoriously heavy during rush hour. For the best fares, we recommend booking a taxi at a fixed price. Go to the green taxi counter in Arrivals and ask for a Wiener Taxi and get a flat rate to anywhere in Vienna. You’ll need to wait 5-10 minutes for your cab, but it could be worth your while.
Cost: EUR 40-50
Booking a taxi: Go to the taxi counter in Arrival
